As a sculptor (wood carvings) I find many of the horizontal poses very frustrating as there is no true vertical shot for reference. Often there are some from a high angle but these are of no use in working out limb placement in a sculpture due to the foreshortening. (see attached)

Is there any chance we'll start to get some poses including a true vertical shot? There only needs to be one vertical shot per pose

The theme for 6 was the female figure in high contrast lighting. Now we're looking for ideas, requests, suggestions (except an all males book) for the next one.
What would you like us to do with the next book?

We are working on designing our next book in the series and would love to get comments from people telling us what they do and don't like about the new design. Here's a link to a low-res PDF preview of the draft: http://www.posespace.com/temp/ArtModels6.zip (about 20 megabytes)

All comments are welcome:
spelling and grammar, choice of poses, general layout, cover designs and text, anything that you can think of.

Some changes are: fewer views per pose to allow for nearly twice as many poses. Close-up details on a few select poses. A small section with some face close-ups, including some expressions. There are more on the Companion Disk.

DouglasJ,

One of the things I try to do at live drawing sessions is to chat with the model to find out what he or she is like. This helps to remind me that what I'm drawing is a live, flesh-and-blood person.
Sometimes it's a kick to find out that they draw, too. And maybe even be a better "drawer" than I am! (But I get over it!)

One thing that I liked with your first book was the little bio of each model, which was scrapped with succeeding editions. It's a pretty good call in a book to not "waste space" which could be used for just one more pose.

But, I think, not on the Web. So, would it be possible that a web page on your site be devoted to model bios? Or, even in this forum?

Thanks.

I've got a "curiousity" type question for you.
Okay, you've set up the background, the turntable, the lighting, the model's pose, and you've taken the first shot. What's the duration of time till you've taken the last shot (and completed the full revolution)?
I'm talking about the length of time from degree 1 to degree 360.

I'm curious because some of the poses don't look like they could be held for longer than a couple of minutes. And, I'd find it hard to consider that you could do half a revolution, go to lunch, come back and finish up the rest of the 360!

Also, if you feel like sharing more stats, what's the longest time a pose took? The shortest? How many poses in a day? Length of time for a session?

Just wondering.

Thanks!
